Green Screen
overview
Green Screen is a technique to superimpose your subjects onto virtual backgrounds, place them over animated digital backdrops or transport them to a desert oasis etc.
A green background works well because it is the furthest color away from human skin tones. That makes it easier to remove the green and place a background. Sometimes they call it Chromakey. Use it to explain ideas visually, to make more compelling presentations, to tell stories that engage your audience.

More specific
- Choose your app. I will focus on the most popular green screen app in education made by Do Ink. Green Screen by Do Ink is available for iPad and iPhone. This app emphasizes ease-of-use and simplicity while still enabling great results. One can use the live video camera, or import saved videos, photos, and artwork, in high definition or standard definition formats. It easy to sequence videos and photos through timeline, trim, crop, move, and rotate images. Sharing the project or the final result through cloud “Google drive, One drive, or Dropbox” or another files exchange method is so simple.
- There also another Green Screen apps based on the operating system:
- For Android, Green Screen Pro (Supports "Green Screen" and "Blue Screen" backdrops)
- For Windows or Mac users Camtasia Studio (Supports all solid color backdrops). This is not free software, needs some experience to use, and its size is too large.
-
- Prepare the place
- The most important aspect is to light the background and the subject (persons or things) evenly and to keep good separation of your subject from the background. I suggest using multiple light.
- Make sure the background is not reflective and has a smooth surface.
- Keep safe distance from green screen at least 2m between your subject and the green screen So no shadow fall on the green screen backdrop, because correcting shadow in the video is hard.
- One other obvious considerations when shooting with green screen backdrop or blue screen backdrop to your subject is not wearing the same color tone cloth, other wise, your subject will also be get edited in post processing job include what your subject is wearing. It is preferable to avoid entirely if possible.
- Take the picture in front of the green backdrop. Then take or upload a background picture.
- Then the app replaces everything that is green with your background image. It's that simple.
